ترامب يشعل حربًا تجارية مع كندا… والرد جاء دولار بدولار!
أمريكا وكندا، أقرب حليفين وجارين، دخلوا في مواجهة اقتصادية خطيرة بعد أن فرض ترامب رسومًا جمركية بنسبة 50% على بضائع كندية بمليارات الدولارات. والرد الكندي كان سريعًا وقويًا: رئيس الوزراء مارك كارني وحكومته أعلنوا أن كندا سترد “دولار مقابل دولار” و”نسبة مقابل نسبة” برسوم تصل إلى 50% على مجموعة كبيرة من السلع الأمريكية.
لكن القصة لم تقف عند التجارة. وسط التصعيد، ترامب وقّع أمرًا تنفيذيًا لإعادة تسمية Lake Ontario إلى “Lake America” في المراجع والخرائط والوثائق الفيدرالية الأمريكية. وقبلها كان قد غيّر اسم Gulf of Mexico إلى “Gulf of America”، ثم قال إن عنده الآن خليج وبحيرة… وربما الخطوة القادمة تكون المحيط الأطلسي أو الهادئ!
هل نحن أمام سياسة اقتصادية لحماية العمال الأمريكيين؟ أم حرب رمزية بالأسماء والخرائط؟ وهل كندا ستتراجع… أم أن الحرب التجارية بين البلدين بدأت فعلًا؟

The United States and Canada, two of the closest allies and neighbors in the world, are now in a serious economic fight after Trump imposed 50% tariffs on billions of dollars’ worth of Canadian goods. Canada’s response was fast and firm: Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government announced it would retaliate “dollar for dollar” and “rate for rate,” with tariffs of up to 50% on a wide range of American products.
But this story is not only about trade. In the middle of the escalation, Trump signed an executive order directing U.S. federal agencies to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America” in federal maps, documents, contracts, and communications. This comes after he already renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America,” and then suggested that now America has a gulf and a lake… maybe the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean could be next!
Is this about protecting American workers? Or is this becoming a symbolic war over names, maps, and national pride? And will Canada back down… or has the U.S.-Canada trade war officially begun?
